Fall Fun 2017 Continued… Oktoberfests and Wine Festivals this Weekend

Does anyone need more than the teensiest excuse to drink beer and eat sausage with some accordion music in the background? OK I have to admit that I’ve never actually been to a true Oktoberfest and I believe it’s overdue!  Most autumns up until now have been dominated by kids’ sports and pumpkin patches (see last week’s blog!).  Everything about these festivals seems like a ton of fun… the one in Richmond is a little bit of a hike, but it looks awesome and wow don’t you love the poster!?  If you go to the website, there is a cute video too.  The Stein Hoisting Contest looks like one of the highlights!

Northern Virginia Fall Brewfest, Bull Run Regional Park, Centerville

“Our Fall BrewFest is a craft beer sampling festival, providing a great opportunity to try fall, winter and holiday seasonal brews from local (VA, DC & MD) and regional (PA, DE, WV & NC) craft breweries…We encourage you to sample different beers and enjoy all of the tasty libations, but be careful because some of these are much stronger then what you’re used to drinking!”

49th Annual Richmond Oktoberfest

“The family friendly “Richmond Oktoberfest” is the most authentic German-American Oktoberfest event in the Commonwealth of Virginia… As an amazed visitor from the German Embassy in Washington DC once said, This is just like a Folksfest back home in Germany.”

Rock the Grapes! Festival, Berryville VA

“Featuring awesome live music from Deja Blue Blues Band and The Cruisers, and amazing local food from 3Fires Pizza Oven, Hillbilly BBQ and Crim’s Kettle Corn, this festival is fun for everyone! You’ll even have the opportunity to stomp grapes, just like in I Love Lucy!”

Oktoberfest or Fall Fest River Cruise  (6pm)

“Embrace your flannel shirts, infinity scarves, and love for all things pumpkin as you sail along the Washington D.C. waters, Oktoberfest beer in hand!”
